On May 15, 2010, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued the decision to establish Duc Tri Secondary and High School. This became one of the most memorable and significant days of my life. At that time, I had just turned 78, with 51 years devoted to teaching. My sacred and profound aspiration had finally been fulfilled. The dream and cherished ambition that I had nurtured for so long had come true.
My beloved Duc Tri School was founded after exactly 25 years of practical experience and accumulated pedagogical knowledge, together with my closest colleagues at the Cultural Education Center at 218 Ly Tu Trong Street. There, four siblings—Dam Thi Loc (my elder sister), Dam Quang Mau (my elder brother), Dam Le Duc, and Dam Thi Thai (my younger sister)—dedicated ourselves wholeheartedly to its development.
At that place, we consistently pursued a guiding principle: “Virtue and Knowledge go hand in hand.” We firmly believed that virtue nurtures talent, and talent, in turn, perfects human morality. This philosophy is the very reason we named our school Duc Tri. The name itself constantly reminds both teachers and students of a proper way of living and learning. It also serves as our declaration to parents and to society about the core values that guide our educational journey.
